Water jet Cutting Services in Nisku
Complementing the other manufacturing services we provide to Alberta’s oil and gas industries from our shop in Nisku, we provide water jet cutting of metals and many other products. This provides a quick, cost effective and accurate technique for many applications - particularly rig and heavy equipment manufacturing and maintenance.
What Materials, Thicknesses & Sizes Can Be Cut by Water jet?
Ideal for our customers in the oilfield industry, our industrial water jet cutter can cut almost any material up to 6” in thickness, and accommodates materials up to 5ft x 10ft.
The list of materials the tool can cut includes:
- Metals including steel, mild steel, aluminum and titanium
- Stone including marble and granite
- Carbon fiber
There are just a couple of materials that are not suitable for Water jet cutting – toughened glass, some ceramics.
Why Use Waterjet Cutting?
Accuracy and stability. Water jet cutting doesn’t change the structure of metals. This means that the cuts are more accurate, and the edges are smoother and flatter than those cut by laser. More traditional cutting methods which use heat can affect the properties and the cut edges of a material – particularly metals. This makes them more difficult to machine. Water jet cutting can eliminate the need for machining metals altogether, but if machining is still required, this becomes easier and less wasteful when using water jet cutting.
At a maximum of 6” in thickness, water jet cutting can cut greater material thicknesses than standard laser cutting, and maintains better tolerances at higher thicknesses.
Material waste reduction. Water jet cutting can allow for closer nesting of uncut parts, leading to less waste of our the materials.
Competitive prices. The dual heads on our cutter allow us to cut more than one piece at a time, keeping charges among the most competitive in the area.
Safer and more environmentally responsible. Because water jet cutting uses water and sand, it eliminates the fumes, gasses, airborne particles and contaminants associated with other cutting techniques. This makes the workplace safer for machine operators and more environmentally friendly in general.
What is Water jet Cutting?
Water jet cutting uses an extremely high powered water pump which sprays a precisely guided jet of water and sand to cut through materials held steady within the flatbed machine.
What Areas Do We Cover?
